Today involves bustling around the kitchen and spending time with family and friends that you may not see very often. Laughter, conversation, and the ting of silverware will echo within the walls of your home. It's a day when we show our gratitude for our blessings, however many or few there may be.
This year I feel that I have more to be thankful for than ever before. Not only am I fortunate to live in a wonderful city filled with good people, I have a beautiful house to call a home, and most importantly three of the most amazing people I can call my family. Each of them are my saving grace. They bring so much rightness, so much goodness, into every day.
My eldest once asked why we only celebrate Thanksgiving once a year. "Aren't we always supposed to be thankful for what we have?" From your lips to God's ears, my darling. We should have gratefulness in our minds and hearts every day. Children have a way of seeing things with more clarity. There are fewer shades of grey for them.
My wish to each of you is to celebrate Thanksgiving every day; to find the things that make your life full and rich. One moment is all you need to show or acknowledge your appreciation. Be it in the care you take of your home, the smile you offer to the person who holds a door open for you, or an extra hug for your children or family, the little bit of thankfulness you show that will make your day a little brighter.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends. Today and everyday.
