    Turkey Trotting

    Tuesday, November 22, 2011

With Thanksgiving upon us, it seemed fitting that Eldest's school call their yearly Fall run the Turkey Trot.

The seven fastest boys and seven fastest girls from each class, sixth grade through eighth, are chosen to run 3/4 of a mile around the school. For Eldest this was a real privilege. She loves to run, she's very good at it. And to be chosen to do something she enjoys was such a delight!

Of course, she was chosen before her surgery and there was some question of whether or not she'd be able to participate. It was cautionary more than anything else.

But this morning she was up, eager, and ready to trot with her fellow turkeys.

    And trot she did!

From the two laps around the soccer fields,

to the mad dash up a dirt hill,

to a final lap around the parking lot and track field,

Eldest ran hard and did wonderfully!

I was so happy I was able to be there to cheer her on~and she was glad to see me.

We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Our health is just one thing~but after last week we are very grateful to have our daughter back on her feet and running her heart out.

Is there any one thing you're particularly thankful for this Thanksgiving?

How great that she likes to run - wonderful sport! I haven't checked on you in a while and it looks like so much is going on! So glad your daughter came through her surgery well. I had oral surgery and I know the recovery process can be trying at times. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

I can't believe how tall she looks in those pictures. I am glad she got to participate in the Turkey Trot
