When I first began blogging four years ago it was around this time of year. Eldest and I were trying to make our Charlotte home festive and colorful for Christmas.
We had garlands hung, the tree decorated, and our moss green stockings of four were happily hanging at the hearth. We had several wreaths as well, but Eldest wanted one of her own.
Something special for her bedroom door.
Enter excess wrapping paper, a spool of red ribbon, an hour of free time, and a styrofoam wreath.
We cut strips of different wrapping paper~lots of strips.
There was no measuring involved but it was enough to wrap up like a cone and tape them. Once wrapped up, we hot glued the cones to the styrofoam, careful to alternate patterns.
When we reached the center of the wreath, we stapled and hot glued the ribbon hanger down, then continued on wrapping and gluing.
Once we were done, Eldest was so happy! She ran upstairs with her special wrapping paper wreath and put it on display.
We thought it turned out pretty well! We loved how different it was. For the most part we used what we had, only purchasing an inexpensive styrofoam wreath. But we also had the best time working on it together.
Have you seen any unique ideas for holiday decorating? I'd love to hear about it!
Stay warm and enjoy your December weekend.
