The Party We Should All Support: The Cocktail

    Sunday, November 4, 2012

If you're born and raised in the South, there's only one bourbon you turn to when mixing drinks: Maker's Mark. During this election season, they took a delightfully cheeky approach to marketing and began campaigning for their own personal party. It's one I think we'd all agree is worth supporting!

Their platform is simple enough: In America today, it's time for honesty! It's time to bring people together! It's time to mix things up! It's time for Maker's Mark and the Cocktail Party!

They continue to say... "With all the petty squabbling and political disappointments in America today, we've decided to mix things up. This year, Maker's Mark is supporting the one party we can all feel good about-The Cocktail Party. At Maker’s Mark, we’ve decided that the election year doesn’t have to be about endless debate, broken promises, baby kissing, petty squabbling, Republicans or Democrats. The way we see it, a party should be fun."

Of course a party should be fun! But all joking aside, this freedom we have to make a choice in our leaders should be celebrated~no matter the side you stand on. So why not kick off election week with the official cocktail of the Cocktail Party, the Conservative? You may be feeling more liberal after a few sips!

    The Conservative
    Alias: Presbyterian

920 Votes: The Official Cocktail of the Cocktail Party!

    ~1-1/2 parts Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
    ~1/2 part club soda
    ~1/2 part ginger ale
    ~Lemon twist

Fill a rocks glass with ice and add Maker’s Mark® Bourbon. Fill with equal parts club soda and ginger ale. Stir and garnish with a lemon twist.

Notes: Originally a nonalcoholic combination of ginger ale and club soda (hence the name, Presbyterian), the Presbyterian is usually served today as a combination of club soda, ginger ale and whisky. Classically simple.

Sip on your own Conservative or other electoral beverage of choice after you cast your vote. You can choose from other campagin beverages here.

Because it’s time to mix things up!

    Happy Election Week Y'all!
